AUDITION INFORMATION
The Audition Process
Prepare your audition.
​2025-26 auditions will be held on September 14th at the University of West Georgia Humanities Building for the High School Division, Vocal Division, and high-school percussionists.

The Middle School Division will hold auditions at Carrollton Middle School for brass, woodwinds and middle-school percussionists.

NOTE: All rehearsal dates, times, and locations are included in our calendar page for the entire season.
MIDDLE SCHOOL DIVISION
Students should prepare music from standard repertoire for their instrument as well as two scales of their choice. Three minutes is the maximum time allotted so that we can hear all auditions in a timely manner. You may use the GMEA All-State Lyrical etude or music from your current band class or private lessons.
Percussionists should prepare two scales plus a mallet etude and a snare etude from the instrument's standard repertoire. You may use the GMEA All-State etudes or other materials at your discretion.

The Middle School Division membership tuition will be $200 for the year after the audition process is complete, paid in full OR in installments. Membership in West Georgia Winds is for the entire season and tuition is non-refundable.​
HIGH SCHOOL DIVISION
Students should prepare the GMEA All-State lyrical or technical etude for their instrument. Students will also perform as many scales as possible within a two-minute timeframe (major, minor, and extended scales allowed). Points will be given for each successful octave and arpeggio.

Percussionists should prepare the GMEA timpani and snare etudes as well as the scale requirements above.

The High School Division membership tuition will be $300 for the year after the audition process is complete, paid in full OR in installments. Membership in West Georgia Winds is for the entire season and tuition is non-refundable.​

Auditions windows are from 11:00am - 3:00pm on Sunday, September 14th at at Carrollton Middle School in Carrollton, GA. for middle school students and UWG's Humanities building for high school students.
If students have a prior commitment, a virtual audition may be discussed--just reach out to our email. We will send you an email to schedule your audition after you have submitted an application form a week prior to audition day.
